CAFE ZEPHYR NOMINATED FOR BEST CAFÉ BAR
The Royal Yacht’s Café Zephyr has been rewarded for its innovative design and relaxed yet funky atmosphere with a place on the short list in the Best Cafe Bar category in the London and South region by Theme magazine in their annual Bar and Restaurant Awards. This nomination goes a long way to show how far The Royal Yacht’s reputation has spread.
Café Zephyr has been open since July 2007 and has quickly set and maintained high standards. The completion of the Weighbridge Park looks set to improve the al fresco element of the café and so improve the experience further.
The Royal Yacht Assistant Restaurants Manager, Claudio Abreu is delighted with the recognition for the Café. “We have worked hard to create and maintain the fresh and fashionable atmosphere of Café Zephyr as well as ensuring a high quality of food and beverages, and to achieve this nomination rewards that hard work and reflects our continuing achievement.”
BARRY SHEENE MEMORIAL CHALLENGE
www.justgiving.com/fred-tobin

Fred Tobin, executive chef of The Royal Yacht and keen biker, is swapping the kitchen for the open road by taking part in the Barry Sheene Memorial Motorcycle Challenge, starting on the 2nd of June. This event involves riding approximately 1400 miles from Dover to Bilbao, in 10 days, incorporating many of the racing circuits made famous by the late Barry Sheene.
The challenge is run in association with CLIC Sargent, and aims to raise £100,000 for children with cancer. CLIC Sargent supports the 10 young people diagnosed with cancer or leukaemia every day in the UK. Twice 500 cc/MotoGP Motorcycle World Champion, Barry Sheene became a supporter of CLIC Sargent after meeting with Eddie Jordan, one of CLIC Sargent’s patrons and hearing about the work of the charity. Barry sadly lost his battle against cancer in 2003 aged 52.
Fred needs to raise £2000 by 14th March and is looking for sponsorship for this event, and if you feel you can make a donation, please contact him at fred.tobin@theroyalyacht.com, or visit his justgiving page at www.justgiving.com/fred-tobin.
